[friends] St. Christina Weekly Update - Feast of Dormition this Week

Dear Friends
 
Attached is our bulletin and prayer list from this past week. We are being
asked to pray for some people with pretty serious situations, so please take
the time to add them to your prayers.
 
As you know, we will be celebrating the feast of the Dormtion of the Mother
of God this week. We have been incredibly blessed with a donation of a
winding sheet icon of this feast and so our celebration at vigil on Tuesday
evening will include a procession around the church much like we do on Holy
Friday every year for the death of our Lord. It is a beautiful service that
encaptures why we venerate the Mother of God as we do, and why her death
brings such joy to our life and faith (see bulletin for details). If you are
able to come for even part of the service, I would strongly encourage it.
 
Reminders for the week:
Tonight 7:30pm - Parish Council Meeting
Tuesday 7:00pm - Vigil w/ Praises to the Theotokos and Procession for
Dormition of the Mother of God
Wednesday 7:00am - Divine Liturgy for the Dormtion of the Mother of God and
Blessing of Flowers
Thursday 7:30pm - 1st of our 5-session class on the Mystery of Marriage.
 
Upcoming event:
Our parish picnic will be Monday September 3 (Labor Day) at Holy Cross
Monastery in Castro Valley. It will be a wonderful and relaxing day to have
some fun together and visit with our old friends Fr. Theodore and Dn Stephen
at the monastery.
